Assuming you have already selected the perfect spot for your in-ground hoop, it is time to prepare the area for installation. This process is actually quite simple and only requires a few tools and materials that can be easily found at any hardware store.

First, you will need to mark the location of the hole that will need to be dug for the pole. A simple way to do this is to tie a rope around the pole and then use spray paint to mark where the rope crosses the ground.

Once the location is marked, you can remove the pole and set it aside.  No matter what size or style of hoop you choose, be sure to follow the installation of ground basketball hoop instructions carefully to ensure that your basketball system is installed correctly and safely.

Next, using a shovel or power auger, dig a hole that is approximately 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. The size of the hole may vary slightly depending on your specific basketball hoop model.

Once the hole has been dug, it is time to fill it with concrete. It is important to use quick-drying concrete so that you can move on to the next step as quickly as possible.

If you are using bags of pre-mixed concrete, follow the instructions on the packaging. Otherwise, mix your own concrete using Portland cement, gravel, and sand in a ratio of 1:2:3 respectively.

After filling the hole with concrete, insert the metal pole into the center of the wet cement. Use a level to make sure that the pole is completely straight before giving the cement time to dry according to package directions.

Also, you can consider Wall-mounted hoops and pedestal hoops that are less expensive options, but they may not be as durable or stable as an in-ground system.
